DIY website help & instruction

Want to manage more of your own website?

That is fine with me. I can build the site for you and teach you the routine parts, or help you work through a site you are already building yourself.

Ways I can help

Learn routine updates
Changing text, adding images, updating links, organizing files, and making ordinary content changes safely.
Understand how the site fits together
Domains, hosting, folders, pages, stylesheets, forms, and the difference between content you can edit and code you may want help with.
Get unstuck
Bring me the part that is not working. I can help diagnose the problem, explain it in plain language, and show you a practical way forward.

You do not have to become a programmer.

The goal is not to bury you in technical terminology. It is to give you enough understanding to handle the things you want to handle and recognize when a job has crossed into something you would rather hand off.

If you want to go farther, I can also help with HTML, CSS, basic JavaScript/PHP concepts, forms, hosting, graphics, SVG, XML, and other web technologies where they are useful to what you are trying to build.

For clients, this can be part of the handoff.

When I build or refresh a site, we can include a short walkthrough of the parts you are likely to change. You can keep control of routine updates and still call me when something unusual, broken, or more technical comes up.
